In my options it's only 300k maximum Under the stock message settings. Im using att but others with carrier labeled phones on att are saying it goes way higher (1000k). I'm sorry for kind of doubling up on the forum with a similar question but I only need dev edition owners to answer. I'm trying to figure out if this is a developer edition issue. Also I'm having issues sending video over text that are small files. It says I'm not allowed to attach it because of size of file. Now that's crazy that the phone isn't adjusting the file for An mms and the only way to send video is to film directly from the message app for that specific text. Honestly I've been doing nothing but defend the htc one but this is getting silly. I feel like I'm using a phone from 2005 with all of its limitations. If I find out this is a developer edition problem I'm done with this phone. That's completely unforgivable. Any help would be appreciated.

Not 100% sure why you need an owner, but it is 300k, regardless of what carrier you have it on. It seems like there are methods to increase it, but not using the stock app un-rooted. Sorry for not having better news.

That's odd because many people are saying they have stock versions. Carrier branded with higher options up to 1000k and starting at 300. Which is why I needed the developers edition owners. it's not all set to 300k. One guy even posted a picture of his screen with a 1000k limit in video text. So clearly the 300k rule you speak of is untrue.

AT&T carrier version is 1000k. Dev edition doesn't have the options to upgrade it. That's one of the reasons I didn't pick it up because people were talking about it on XDA.

Wow. Well that's ridiculous. If any version of the phone should have more size options it's the developers edition. I would love to hear the reason for this cripple in the most expensive version of their phone considering you can't use an upgrade on it. Looks like I'm gonna have to ditch this phone eventually. That's just too silly for me to want to keep this. It actually renders the phone useless in a modern era when most things sent or forwarded to others are larger than 300k

Tell me what messaging app is good that doesn't put the black bar on the bottom. Since gosms does that option is gone.

Actually they support 1mb on att. And their version has the option.

Right, there are 3 limitations, the sending carrier, receiving carrier (sometimes same carrier) and the device (can be app specific, as we're finding out).

Yes I went to the store today and saw for myself. And had a convo with htc and read any forum post from XDA I could. This is solely a developers edition thing with the stock text app that can only be worked around at the time by using another text app. Chomp is the only good app that works with the htc one with out adding the black bar at the bottom. It also allows unlimited mms data sends depending on what carrier the recipient has that could be nice for some people. Also allows the user to send a video right from the library. Only problem is the phone doesn't let you disable stock text app so even though you can shut off all the notifications and hide it in the app drawer I'm not convinced more battery isn't being used since two independent apps are functioning with text messages. And lastly group messages isn't working properly on it. Really hope that 4.2 update comes fast since the group message is baked in all these text apps will work properly and I can just use anything but the stock.

There are other options, such as using a different app or using a different methodology (upload to cloud, send link, share via Google+, etc). I'm not sure how that makes the device useless. What it actually seems to do, is make one app not function 100% in the manner in which the user would prefer it does; in this case offering either 50% or 30% of one tiny aspect of the one app, (depending on whether you believe AT&T condenses to 1000K or 600K), thus making the specific app approximately 99% effective and the device, depending on the number of apps installed, approximately 99.99% effective.

Att limit is 1000k. The htc can still receive above 300 which is odd and from another att device I sent an 800k pic and that's how it was received. But I'm over it the frustration. But the phone needs to be rooted to properly work so I can disable this crippled text app. It's just frustrating because I truly feel the stock text app on the htc one is extremely good.

I read on an HTC One facebook page that 4.2.2 is on the door step, can't link as I'm on phone.
