Can Someone Help Me?

I have an Optimus S that I rooted a while back and flashed CM7 onto. Today I attempted to use my wireless tether and was informed that my phone is not rooted. I rebooted to recovery but the phone screen is just black. I used android screen cast to see what was going on and saw that my phone was in recovery, but I was not able to do anything other than power off my phone from that menu.

At this point I'm wondering if it might just be better for me to return to stock and unroot, but I can't figure out how to get that done either.

To unroot and return to stock, download zvdupdate.zip (see my sig) and rename it update.zip, then put it in the root of your sdcard. Then flash update.zip from recovery. boot the phone completely into the rom, then go back into recovery and flash update.zip again.

Do NOT do this. I assume you used rom manager to install recovery and cyanogen. If that is correct, you will end up with a bricked phone. You need to install stock recovery, xionia, or cannibal open touch to avoid a radio brick. Then you can reflash thekraven cm7 or another supported rom.

If he was bricked by rommamager, would he still be able to see his screen with screencast?

BTW, like hlxanthus said, do NOT follow my instructions until this gets figured out...

This is all I get when I try to access the update.zip in recovery. That is what I meant by I can only power down from recovery screen, all other options give me a blank screen.

Then I would follow hlxanthus's advice and flash a recovery. Most have instructions on how to do it through an adb shell.

So how do I go about doing that?

I guess I really have 4 problems and don't know which to address 1st

1. My phone notified me its no longer rooted
2. I can't return to stock
3. I have to use android screen cast to see what my phone is doing when booted to recovery
4. I get a blank screen when selecting any option other than power off in recovery, even when zip files are loaded on sd root

Gingersnap Root Utility says I'm rooted, but I am not. This is what I get when trying to root using the LG Optimus S Control Center

Read through the "ROM Manager = BRICK!" sticky. I don't have a lot of personal experience with the method, but you may have to go all the way down to e-mode to get out of this hole. For the love of your phone, please stop using automated hacking tools willy nilly hoping something just miracle fixes it. You are correct that you do not have a working ROM or recovery on this device and your problem is a few layers deep.
