Can the Gear VR be modified to work with the Active?

Anyone tried hacking a gear vr to work with the Active? It should just be a physical mod since the Active runs all of the VR services.

I could find no info about anyone modifying one to work. Although I DID find some rumor blogs about a GearVR new version coming with the Note 7, perhaps THAT will be big enough?

It seems that the problem is thickness rather than length. The Active is just too thick to fit into the holder in the Gear VR where the USB connection is.

the gear vr can be modified to work ie dremel and some sort of polymer to make it stay. buddy did it to his, ill see if i can get pics.

They have to have something coming in the pipeline because the VR Service is installed and running

I purchased and modified the gear vr to go with my new s7 active. The physical mod is really easy...fits great...don't get excited though. The service is on the active but something is blocking it and the gear vr is not recognized and the oculos app does not come up to install. Now I'm looking into sw hacks to make it work.

Doubt it for the active. I'm sure the note 7 will see an updated usb c gear VR.

friend is working overseas ill try to get pics of what he did; he said it was simple; some dremel work and a bit of epoxy; 5 minutes to cut, few hours for epoxy to set. id get one and do it but i have no interest in VR.

Just wanted to see if any more information came out about this. I bought an after market Gear VR and I know it should work with my S7 Achive, just waiting to see if a mod/software mod comes around.

my friend is overseas and not available for a month or two but i do know he got it to work, maybe not quite flawlessly but he did brag about it. hes into that sort of stuff.

made him aware there is quite a bit of interest and to create an account and post it in the S7 Active section when he has time.

Still no luck? I was able to modify and phone now fits but need a software mod :/
