Can the M8 play PS3 games with an emulator?

I don't think any mobile device could pull that off right now. The m8 may be capable of playing games that are native to Android and look as good as ps3 games, but emulation has a lot of overhead. Most modern gaming PCs are just now getting to the point where that starts to become a possibility.

Pardon my limited understanding.

But modern gaming PCs are ahead of their time. They can play well beyongd ps3 graphics. In fact, my Toshiba e55 with a HD 4400 can run ps3 graphics with ease. The chipset that m8 uses (the 801) may not directly be able to compare to the ps3 but I do know it can run ps2 games fairly well. I saw skyward sword for the Wii u running on a friends s5. Despite the week hardware in the u. Jus a thought.

PS3 uses a cell processor. It's a completely different architecture and so any emulator is going to have to use a he'll of a lot of resources just to translate. Just because modern gaming PC's have more power than a PS3 doesn't mean they can emulate it easily.

Also, I think even the PS4 would have a hard time emulating a PS3 game. Completely different architecture.

Yeah, power wise, there's a lot of stuff that could run games much better than the PS3. The problem is that to run a PS3 game on anything other than a PS3 you need an emulator, essentially software that pretends to be a PS3 that runs on some other type of computer. That is 1. Really pretty challenging to program, and 2. Extremely resource intensive once you build the emulator. So although the computer itself is vastly more powerful, it doesn't necessarily translate into the emulator, assuming one exists.

Awe, Ok... excellent explanations.
I noticed it is mostly PS2/GameCube Era emulators and that's it. Perhaps in 5 or 10 years there may be one for the PS4. When I preordered GTA 3 when it was first released I would have never though that I would be playing the same game on my phone.
