I'm interested in purchasing a Samsung Galaxy book as my new lightweight College laptop / tablet. I was wondering since it is basically a Windows 10 operated laptop does it have a tablet mode so I can still function with Google Play and mobile apps? Any help would be appreciated in solving this dilemma for me :-)

No. The Tablet mode in Windows laptops still run Windows, not Android. Hence it won't work with Google Play.

Welcome to Android Central! You should consider getting a good Chromebook that has Android app support, like the Samsung Chromebook Plus or Pro.

I only just read this, so now I know why my samsung book won't do the same as my samsung tabS which I thought (wrongly) would replace my loved by rather old tablet. damn, wasted my money.

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry about that -- is it too late to return the tablet? I agree that calling this a "Galaxy" device is kind of misleading, since most people equate Galaxy with Android. The only other Galaxy devices I can think of that aren't Android are their smartwatch line (which run Tizen), but those are intended to work with Android devices.
