Can this rival the iPhone?

...
Their momentum is continuing to grow as explained in the article. This is partly because of China ... sales as reported in the past weeks.

Apparently in the last year Android has doubled its market share in China to close to 70%...so I'm not seeing the iPhone growth marketshare-wise atleast in that region.

But as you said...
so what. Android is rocking it!
:D

Doesn't the one series have an sd card slot? I'm rocking well over 64g on my photon right now...

That was back when phones were getting better. Now they are getting worse. In 2012, we gimp phones by giving them only 10GB of usable storage with no SD card slot. HERE'S TO THE FUTURE.

Let's hope they take a lot of heat over this. It's inexcusable for such a high end 'flagship' phone. I just can't fathom such an idiotic decision.

I'm not trolling or anything and don't want to upset our fellow iPhone lovers, but I was thinking, can this Android actually rival the iPhone 4s? It seems all these Android phones are popular for a month and then just die off. Perfect examples are: Samsung SkyRocket, HTC Vivid, HTC Rezound, Moto Razr, and the Galaxy Nexus. Those phones all drew tons of attention prior to release, just like before the iPhone 4S was announced, yet, in April 2012 I get the gist of, ah who cares about those phones, and yet the iPhone 4S is still the most popular phone and selling off the charts. WHY? Yes, I have one and like it but why are they selling so many?

Let's be real here: The iPhone 4S lacks a "normal" screen, 4G LTE, a speedy processor, 1GB of ram, full customization, and limited PRICY apps. So why are people still buying it in droves in April, a good 7 months after release??? I don't see people buying the Galaxy S II (non-LTE versions) for AT&T and T-Mobile or Sprint as much as this thing is selling? Why are people buying a 3G only device on Verizon and Sprint in April 2012?

Ugh I just don't get it. Some people prefer the iPhone and never even used Android or Windows phones. I just don't get it. I know it won't but I hope the HTC One X kicks the iPhone 4S's butt along with unborn brother the iPhone 5.

The iphone doesn't sell mainly on specs, it's more the apps and the ecosystem that keeps people invested into IOS. Remember, specs don't appeal the majority of consumers, just mostly the technical guys like us.

For most people, they just look at a pretty phone, plenty of apps and some portability. I would never call Apple phone users sheep, that's childish and untrue.

Rival the iPhone, are you kidding me?

Both the HTC One X and the One S trumps the iPhone in every way imaginable.

Both devices are much better than the iPhone from any vantage point.

iPhone 4S: 64GB storage

HTC One X\S: 10GB usable storage

"Every vantage point" huh?

Because I don't want a phone with only 10GB of storage. I'd rather pay more for what I want. HTC just doesn't get it, and AT&T is trying to exploit cloud storage\limited data plans. Absolutely awful.

Lots of truth here. Data is money, and as we advance, it isn't going to stay uncapped or free. Can we still say these are the good ol' days:-$

Carriers limiting internal storage makes sense. If you have stream everything you'll buy the higher priced data plans. Without expandable memory I won't go with less than 32GB.

I think it's fair to say AT&T really dropped the ball on this matter. I would cite this over everything else including even the lack of a way to switch off LTE, because it is such a no-brainer and a downer for new customers to head back from the store and realizing they can't even add movies or music after all their apps are loaded up...

It's ridiculous and I am speaking from experience on how I actually could fill 10 gigs on apps alone...you can't even load all the apps you want, let alone the content you really want to enjoy...

Hopefully everyone is sending their complaints to HTC on this. They do need to hear it. I would love to know what their response is.

HTC didn't make the choice AT&T did. They tell the manufacture the specs etc and the price point to hit. AT&T made the decision based off what I don't know to go with 16 gb's is it a bad decision only time will tell. Sure you will get some people like us on sites like this complaining about the 16gb's of storage, but for the vast majority of people they would rather buy the phone at 199.99 then say 299.99. IMOP I wish they would give us the choice to pay more for extra storage.

I agree with you this was ATT's decision but that does not exonerate HTC. HTC needs to stand up to the carriers. It is thier brand on the phone and they will be blamed. I really thought HTC learned a lesson from 2011 but it appears they didnt. With seperate variants launching on Verizon, Sprint and ATT they are as convoluted as ever. I was hoping they would take a page out of Apples book and get the backbone to stand up for its brand. There is too much input from the carriers. The OEM's should produce what they feel is the best phone they can and if the carriers dont want them its too bad. Thats what great brands do.

You can always buy the unlocked international version if you don't like the changes AT&T had them make.

With the advent of microSDXC cards, iPhone's vaunted onboard storage capacity advantage will be eventually negated. I'd much rather have expandable storage, any day. MicroSDXC will soon be the standard, and will support up to 2TB as they begin to take root.
