Can you Change the "App Displayed Name" ?

Is there a way to change the displayed app name or totally delete the name when you place an app shortcut on the homescreen?

If you are using a launcher, long press on the icon, choose edit, then you can either change the display name of the app or delete it all together.

I am using the stock launcher. Thought about Nova, but I love the knock knock feature.

I use ADW Launcher and still use the Knock feature. Knock On works fine. Knock Off works on the lock screen anywhere, but when on a home screen, only on the top notification bar. I've just trained myself to Knock Off on the top bar. Works great.
