Can You Get Sharp "Live Focus" Pictures?

I can't seem to get sharp Live Focus shots. The subject in any given photo isn't as sharp in Live Focus as the same shot on Auto. I'm tapping on the subject to focus. Has anyone else experienced this?

You don't have to tap on the screen. You have to let the phone find the face

What if the subject isn't a face? I haven't tried an actual (or stuffed) face yet. That stuffed face photo is excellent!

When I took the pic above the phone focused automatically without me having to tap on the blue rag so maybe you are too close or too far from the subject.

Make sure the distance between the camera and the subject is at least 1m and also the distance between the subject and the background is more than 1m as well. (quite a bit more)
And make sure it shows "Live focus ready" on the screen before taking the picture.
