Can you help me? I think I'm on the last step?

I am new to rooting/ROMs and spent the entire weekend here and other places finding out what to do. I downgraded/rooted my Thunderbolt. I also downloaded titanium backup, busybox, and rom manager. Lastly, I looked through reviews and thought that CM7.1 ROM would work best for my tastes. I downloaded it, put it on my SD card, and ran it on my phone. Boom, it's on, looks great. Now I have no idea how to get my "old" apps back, if I can even download them again, and I can't find them on my SD card. After an hour I did a reboot/recall/reflash? back to my previous "safe" version that I backed up before I jumped to CM7.1.

Sorry I sound stupid, but how can I get my twitter, facebooks, game apps, etc. to the CM7.1 ROM? What am I missing, I feel like I am close!

Thanks.

You need to use Titanium Backup... in the app, go to backup/restore and backup your most important apps and app data (apk+data). Flash the new ROM that you want to use.. go into the Google Play Store (android market) and download Titanium Backup back onto the phone. Go to backup/restore in the app and restore your apps/data back onto the phone.

Hi CW,

I'm still stuck at the last part ... "go into the Google Play Store (android market) and download Titanium Backup back onto the phone."

I cannot find that app on the CW7.1 ROM. Is it called something else? I've tried the "GO store" but that's not it...?

Did you flash GAPPS?

No, I have not. Google Apps is another separate thing I have to download, back up using titanium backup, and then flash while using CW7.1? If so I'll just restore, download, and do it again...I just assumed that GAPPS would automatically be on my SD card and would be run by CW7.1 But it's a file that I have to downlaod from the internet, place on my SD card, and then flash from file manager/SD card while running CW7.1?

Hello Rusnak,

It sounds like you have figured it out, but just to be sure:

After installing your new ROM, it is necessary to redownload Titanium Backup from Google Play Store/Android Market, then use that redownloaded Titanium to restore the apps that you had backed up before you flashed the new ROM.

Yeah, most AOSP ROMs require you to flash the Google Apps (aka GAPPS) separately.

Yup, what I would do is back your stuff up (see the tutorial in my sig for guidance if needed!), make sure you have the ROM *and* GAPPS downloaded and on the SD card. Once you've installed the ROM and are still in Recovery, simply flash the GAPPS .zip file right then and there and reboot. You should have a fully working ROM with all the Google Apps.

If you've already installed the ROM, simply boot into recovery and flash GAPPS there and reboot.
