Can you make a phone display a different number when calling someone?

Assuming the LG will not be offered on Verizon, if I got one from a different carrier, because I don't want to give up my Verizon line, I would have to get a new phone number for the phone. When people call me, they can dial my old (known) Verizon number, and I can have those calls forwarded to my new number. BUT...when I call someone from the LG number, is there any way to make it show the receiving party my old number instead of the new one? I'd like to avoid people having to keep 2 different numbers for me in case I eventually drop the new one.

I'd suggest a Google Voice number personally. But there are apps that seem to spoof your number I think....Seems the ones I've found are for pranks though so not rly for practical reasons to spoof the caller ID.

Just to clarify, you don't want to give up your Verizon line (plan, contact, whatever) or you don't want to give up your existing phone number?

If the latter, you could just port the existing number over to a new carrier.

I think the op wants to keep Verizon for now, but may drop Verizon at a later time. So for the time being, that person is having calls to Verizon number forwarded to nexus phone. But when calls are made from nexus, the new number is what others will see.

I am in same boat, so curious about this thread...

I can't believe this thread got dug up again. Anyway...I'm porting my number to GV and dropping verizon. That solves my problem.

LOL, I never even looked at the dates. Unfortunately I cannot port my number. Google says it is not eligible.
