I've tried rooting using trter's "All in One" tool but when the phone goes into recovery mode after a few seconds the updating icon goes to the red triangle with the exclamation point. Is there anyway to root with the new software?

Sounds like you might have to go through htc website and use their bootloader unlocking tool. Then bring OS back a version(s), then use all in one tool.

Cool, good job.
Look for the RUU (s) of previous OS version(s).
I think you then place on root of sd card and boot phone it loads the file on its own. Be sure to have battery.
I need to know this, will need to soon in near time root wife's tbolt which is on latest stock version.

I remember .19, you should be fine with that version.

Be sure after phone boots up to either move or delete RUU from sd card, and be sure to turn off mobile data and wifi so that you aren't pushed the update.
Then I think you can finally proceed to all in one tool.
Happy rooting.
