Is it possible to use a tablet like a Samsung Galaxy tablet with android auto? I am not talking about using the tablet as the head unit. I am talking about using the tablet instead of my phone to connect to AA on my infotainment screen.

Since the Android Auto service is no longer an app but a system process, tablets are not supported for Android Auto connections anymore, unfortunately.

If it's rooted you'd have to install an OS version that supports Android Auto (and since this is for a tablet, it would likely have to be custom-made or you may find hardware compatibility issues). I believe there are Android Auto 'emulators' that let you run the head unit portion on the tablet (for a 'big display' AA experience) but that still needs your phone to take over the actual AA process, with your tablet only serving as a display.
