Mr. Toad, I read the info you posted and it was very helpful. I was wondering if you'd have any insight on my current situation. So, my family is on a 15GB More Everything Plan. We have 5 lines, only 1 of which is a 'basic' phone.
This basic phone had an upgrade available on the account, so I just used it to purchase a 6+. We were only paying $20/month for this basic phone monthly previously. However, now when I just purchased the 6+ on Apple.com, it says the monthly charge will go up to $40.
When I get the phone, before I turn it on I am going to insert my current Sim card (from an iPhone 6) into the 6+. I am hoping that when I do this, the basic phone will never activate as a smart phone and therefore the monthly charges won't budge whatsoever. I will obviously discard the sim card programmed for the basic phone's number. I want that line to remain just a basic phone for $20/month.
If I follow these steps, I will run into no issues of Verizon attempting to charge the $40/month for smartphone access? My concerns of this are basically because of the posts I've read regarding the August 24th policy change. I'm not sure how it applies in regards to my situation. Literally, I took a screenshot on Apple.com of it saying the monthly access bc it's a smartphone would be $40 monthly, however I'm wondering if this is negated when I never activate the basic phone's SIM in the 6+. Any ideas? And also, in regards to your situation, you still have not been billed whatsoever for the switch?
