Can you stop a YouTube Video from downloading once started playing?

When using the YouTube app, pausing the video doesn't stop the video from continuing to download. Is there a way to stop the download once you started playing the video and decide you want to stop? With a 2GB limit on my LTE, sometimes I may not want to watch an entire HD video, but just a minute or two and have it stop. But even on pause, it keeps downloading the rest. Any easy way to just stop the video rather than pause and have it continue to download?

Why not setup wifi in your house? The only real reason to get a wireless plan that low is because you have wifi that you'll be using primarily.

Besides I think that behavior can't be changed. The only two options available involve preloading.

I'm not talking about when I'm at home and on wifi. There are many times that I'm away and using Verizon LTE when I load up a video on Youtube and then want to stop it. But it will keep loading and gulping my data! Was hoping there was a way to stop it from downloading and caching.

Are you viewing them via the YouTube App, or a web browser? If it's a web browser, wouldn't simply closing the tab (or window) stop the video? And for the App, all you have to do is swipe down on the video (in full screen mode you have to tap the screen once, for a little arrow to appear in the upper left corner, then tap that arrow) and the video will drop to the bottom as a thumbnail (still playing). Just swipe the thumbnail to the right to stop it.

vmurph, THANK YOU!!!! That's exactly what I was looking for. It works great! No more data being eaten up for no reason.
