Do you know if I can call and remove the protection when I receive the phone and get the $99 back?

Yeah you can cancel that any time.. Just keep it for now and then decide later. You could even cancel after a month or two and they will give you the prorated credit for that. So nothing to worry.

But don't cancel your order.. Everything is out of stock now.

According to this post on the Google Product Forum for the Pixel, it can only be added at the time of purchase through the Google Store only.

Can confirm this is the case. I tried to do this with a Nexus last year and ended up having to cancel and reorder to get it.
