Cannot access image files in a particular folder after moving images there.

i moved some images to a separate folder on my moto g5 plus (internal storage) but now i can't access those images on my phone. I had transferred them via bluetooth from my previous android device and they were visible up until a few days ago. Now all i can see are blank thumbnails and that too if i connect to desktop. but they won't open on desktop either. What did actually happen?? And is there any way to recover these files.
