I tried to activate my Verizon Note 8 on Verizon, and it gets stuck at the equipment protection screen. I have tried all the options, and it doesn't let me continue. Does anyone else have this problem?

P.S. A sim swap does work, but I am just curious as to why I can't activate in Verizon's system.

I went to activate mine and they had the same problem at the store. Turns out you have to wait until the 15th because that's when the phone is actually supposed to come out. It's not in their system yet

Mine arrived yesterday ( Sept 12th ) turned off the old Note 5 and turned on the new Note 8 and it went through the set up , it was the easiest set up I ever had.

Been using mine since 9.6, no problems at all.

Got my Note 8 on 9/7. Popped in the nano Sim from my Note 5 and had no problem with activation.

So is it normal to have to take the old sim from your old phone (mine is an iPhone) and put it in the note 8 in order to activate with verizon? I am having trouble activating my note 8 with the sim card that was already installed.

You shouldn't have to do that. When my Note 8 wouldn't activate there was screen message to call a Verizon activation phone number. I did and it worked. No Sim card transfer was done.

Same here. It was about a 90 second phone call.

Mine wouldn't activate with the new SIM, I had to use the one from my other phone.

Well I called that number several times but could not get anything to work right no matter which option I chose on the menu. So I went into my verizon wireless account and was able to walk through a half dozen steps, it felt like, input my note ID number, SIM code etc. and finally got to a point that my phone activated but ONLY after I completely shut down my iPhone 6s first and then completely shut down the Note 8 and restarted it.

This may be too late, but I had the same problem, turns out you have to turn your old device OFF, THEN power on your new device, and that's all it takes.

Not true at all. Straight from Samsung, 'all pre-orders are authorized to be distributed on Tuesday, Sept 5th'. It is certainly in the system, I got mine on the 5th and once I powered my old device off, I was able to activate it.

I never call and activate. Just use your old sim. It's perfectly fine. I take my old sim card and place in my new phone and never had a problem. I'll use them same sim card in dozens of phones.
