Apple won there case against Samsung. I am at a loss because Apple lost in every other country. Must be nice to have a jury pool 10 miles from the company headquarters. Now I'm sure the appeal will begin.

Yep Sammy took a beating today. Maybe Samsung should have asked for a change of venue instead of a trial in Apple's backyard. San Jose is 9 miles from Cupertino. In the end we consumers will be the ones who will pay because Sammy will probably raise prices to cover their fines.

Meanwhile the ip5 will come out and be thinner (like Sammy's phones have been for years), and still have a smaller screen than any Galaxy phone.

That being said, I remember when the Captivate came out. It WAS VERY iPhone like. Touchwiz has always been almost a copy of the iPhone GUI. Apple went after Samsung because they feared them, pure and simple. The Galaxy series of phones are killing the iPhone. So, if you're Apple and you can't compete or innovate like you used to, you just sue!

Very sad and this is just the beginning of the "patent wars".

I have to agree. Samsung pushed the line on this one. To be fair, Apple also went after Sammy because Jobs was an insecure megalomaniac. Having said that I have a big problem with US patent law. This is another example of how out of control things have gotten.

My heart doesn't bleed too much for Samsung. A couple years back, I remember seeing an ad for two new phones with small screens and full QWERTY keyboards - having owned a BlackBerry in the past, I could have sworn they were Berries. Nope, they were Samsung phones. I then realized there is some truth to this "copying" b.s.

Most patents are crap imho. The patent system needs serious reform. But, I think Sammy had this coming.

Android will continue to live strong. That's all that matters to me.
