Cannot download. "download unsuccessful"

Everytime I try to download a file it will start downloading. then it will say download unsuccessful? Can anyone help me out.I have already used root explorer and tried to change the permissions to the download folder.

Whenever this has happened to me it was usually cause my connection was interupted for some reason and it wasn't able to resume

This happened to me after I rooted and loaded a rom. I even tried to download the same file I downloaded while i was running stock. I was on 3g. Any ideaa?

I would try it with WIFI to see if that makes a difference. I also found that it would happen when I was downloading larger files or multiple files at the same time.

If you are rooted, open a terminal:
cd /sdcard/download
wget http://whatever.your.download/url.is

I find this useful for large files as wget can retry if interrupted.

You can also try a different browser like Dolphin

ok the only thing I can't download are roms. my market works for downloads. but my browser is the only thing that won't let me download a rom.it says it's an incompatible file.

I've downloaded files larger than 500MB without problems. I suppose the limit will be your sdcard and how it is formatted. Default is FAT32 which is limited to 4GB per file.

I think the best way for you to get your rom downloaded is to use your PC then copy the rom to the sdcard.

My stock browser didn't want to download unknown files at first either but I'm not sure what fixed it. Could be that I have root explorer installed and it may have associated itself with many file types. Just a guess.

I've never had an issue downloading roms, I use my computer as little as possible.

"Ok, so i finally took the jump and download z4root, Droid X Bootstrap and GummyJar 2.5 rom. Installed everything, and everything seems to b working fine. I'm trying to download a .zip file form the web (via the phone) but every time I click on the .zip file it doesn't download. It gives me an error saying "Download unsuccessful. Cannot download. This is a issue I noticed and I just downloaded file with another browser, Opera Mobile works every time for me. Also I am rooting with no issues downloading with Opera.
