Can't access the hidden menu

So everytime I try to access the hidden menu through the dialer I get an error that says invaild mmi code. I've read I have to install the menu app but do t know where to find it

Not all Android phones use all of the available codes. I just found one that works on the Optimus G, so I know that the options are there. What specifically are you trying to do?

There isn't very much there that is useful unless you are having problems... but some of it is interesting.

There is nothing to install... these are basically service oriented options for the vendors to assist you in case of problems.

Which Optimus G do you have? I know the sprint version can be accessed through the dialer.
