Can't add calendar, says it already exists

I upgraded my Samsung GS5 to Android 6.0 and everything is working except for my calendar. I had no problem adding my gmail account to the phone and it is syncing my contacts without issue. However when I go to calendar it asks me to add a calendar. I try to add my gmail account but it says it already exists. If I back out of that and just go to the calendar, then to the menu and select Calendars to display there is nothing there. If I hit Calendars to sync button it just spins forever saying "Loading...". I let it sit over 30 minutes and nothing happened.

Any ideas?

I'd either do a cache wipe procedure for your device OR remove Google account and re add your account.

Well that didn't work either... I even tried deleting the account from settings, rebooting and wiping cache, then going to my calendar first and adding the account there. The account is now in my settings but still isn't in the calendar.

This is a custom rom for the GS5 so it is probably just a bug, guess i'll have to try another build. A shame because everything else is working fine...
