Android Central Question
I cannot make calls to two numbers on my phone, my boss and my sister. I did not block them by accident and they haven't blocked me because they can make calls to me and I can receive them just fine. I make the call, it attempts to initiate, and it drops the call immediately. They get a notification of my missed call.
I purchased a used AT&T S8 that was out of contract from a private seller to upgrade from my S5 Active. It's running Experience 8.1. I've used Straight Talk for five years with good service. I ordered a SIM kit from Straight Talk (since the SIM card is different for the S8). I factory reset the phone and popped the SIM in and configured it. I started having the call issue, so I factory reset the phone again just to make sure. It still does it.
I called AT&T. They say it's Straight Talk's problem.
I called Straight Talk. They say it's Samsung's problem.
I called Samsung. They say it's not their problem.
As mentioned before, I factory reset the phone twice, had Straight Talk refresh my SIM and APN settings multiple times, and made sure those contacts are not blocked. I have no third party dialers on my phone. I have no app that would interfere with it because these problems occurred immediately after factory reset. Only once out of the 50 or so times I've attempted to call out have I gotten one call to go through to my boss, but calling him back seconds later to see if it was working resulted in the call dropping and the cycle continuing.
Samsung explains that my phone may not be "fully unlocked," but the phone is receiving data and works perfectly other than not being able to call those two numbers.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
