Can't download any apps - "insufficient space on device" error keeps coming up

It's not the speed that I'm talking about -- it's how much of an app can reside on an SD card. Most people assume that the entire app will move to the SD card, but in fact it's usually just a relatively small portion of the app -- the main part still has to reside in Internal Storage for the app to work properly.
