All of a sudden and no doubt as a result of an update (as per usual) I can no longer edit a contact name or any other information in my handset phone book.
My account is synced and when I enter the change using the little pen symbol which has moved to bottom left of screen, the change only appears in my Google synced contacts folder ?
I've reversed the steps and tried entering it first in my Google synced folder but it still will not change in the phone book on my handset.
I've deselected and reselected "Sync contacts" but this also also makes no difference.
I've also restarted the device but no change. I strongly suspect that this is a software fault that's come in on the back of a software update as it used to work. The last time I used this successfully was several updates ago and the edit symbol was top right hand side and accessed by tapping the dots. Any ideas as it's really frustrating. I don't want to delete contact and re enter it as I will then have to re invite that person to all my other accounts....signal app, line app etc.

Sign out of your accounts on the device. Clear the cache partition and reboot. Sign back in and check your syncing. Good luck

Clear the cache in the Contacts app. The cache partition is for Linux and Android only, it has nothing to do with Contacts.

Hi Thanks
Done that and sadly no change... could it be that the contact has multiple accounts in that entry that is causing the issue

Hi
I've indeed tried that too....and sadly nothing. The only way I've managed to get around this problem is as follows.
1) Enter the new name from scratch as a separate entry.
2) Then enter the original telephone number and any other details into that new contact name. ( While doing all this DO NOT DELETE the original name and number entry).
3) Then a "Do you want to merge similar contacts" option will appear, DO NOT MERGE, PRESS (X).
4) Then after double checking that the new entry data is correct, i noticed that when I went into my "Signal app" entries had already synced and corrected. However, the "Signal app" icons had not yet appeared within the new entry listing in the new entry phone book contact listing. Don't worry about this, it will correct after (5).
5) Now delete the old original entry and then "RESTART DEVICE"
6) SUCCESS .......All is now corrected. Quite why l had to do it like this I have no idea but it must be something to do with entries that have other app data connected to them, I.e also stored in "Signal" and "Line" apps etc, as normal phone book entries can be altered with no issues at all.
