Hello,

I just got my first smartphone and having trouble.

Sometimes when I call a business number, I would hear "press 1 for this, press 2 for that". With my old landline phone, I would just press a number on the phone and I would be fine.

But with my new htc evo 4g, there is no physical keypad, everything is touch screen. I am able to make the "soft" keypad appear. But when I press a number, the other line is not detecting my selection. It thinks that I did not press anything. I couldnt find an "Enter" button. I tried pressing # after the number but still nothing. Please help.

Regards,
Cathy

Welcome to the forums. Is this random, meaning the same business you call sometimes accepts the input?

Just want to add that the number I called is also the same number that I used to call with my old landline phone. This means that the called number was able to detect my old landline phone just fine. Also, I was able to dial out using the "soft" keypad of my htc, so the keypad is somewhat working.

You might go to phone, menu, call settings and scroll to the bottom, set DTMF TONES to "LONG"

Hope this helps!
