Can't find all my locally stored music on play music

I got a new moto g5+. It has play music as the default app for music playback. But, I can't find many locally stored music files on it. Does the play music's downloaded mode doesn't support all types of music files? VLC has no problem finding all my locally stored music on SD card.

Most all of the music on my device (Pixel 2 XL) is in MP3 format and all is recognized by the Play Music app. Admittedly, it is all stored in ram (the Pixel 2 XL does not support SD cards).

No, it's stored in internal storage. Anything in RAM (it's an acronym, so it's upper-case) disappears when you turn the device off. RAM and eMMC (internal storage) are totally different things - this article kind of explains it simply.

Thought I should let u guys know... Apparently, The problem was the SD card(errors on it, expected better from SanDisk)... Got a new SD card and the problem is gone..
