I have the Samsung Fascinate and i can't get google play on it. I'm not an expert with phones and whatnot so i need help. The model number is SCH-I500. i've been using the old "Market" app but it doesn't have the same apps as Google Play, such as Textplus, Instagram, etc. I've tried manually updating my phone but it doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling market updates and re opening market, and that hasn't worked. it brings me to a new Market page (still without textplus, instagram, etc.), but it changes back to the old Market page after a few minutes. I synced my phone to my google account and i've tried going on the Google Play website and downloading apps from there, but when i try to download it, it says the app is not compatible with my phone. and on the list where i choose which phone i want to download the app to, it just says "phone" with a question mark next to it. i've been stuck like this for months and i can't seem to get it. so please if anyone has any information on this, could you shed some light? i'm dyyyyying here!

i also tried downloading an apk file of Google play on my laptop then putting it on my phone, but when i open it, it says, "There is a problem parsing the package"

Is your phone completely stock, or have your rooted it or installed any custom ROMs? The latter can sometimes cause problems like this.

Have you tried downloading the latest Google Play .apk file directly to your phone and then opening it? Follow these steps:

1. On your phone browser, go to this website (don't worry, it's legit): http://d-h.st/l0p
2. Tap the Download button--it's lodged between the 2 big banner ads.
3. Now tap your Home button, then open your App Drawer and select Downloads.
4. The file is "com.android.vending-4.1.6.apk" Tap it to open.

I'm sorry, use this link instead, which is for the very latest Google Play 4.1.10 apk (the one I posted above was for 4.1.6).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless you're rooted, the Play Store can only be installed on phones with Honeycomb or higher. If you're on Gingerbread (which I don't know if the Fascinate has a higher firmware than that), then you have to stick with marked unless you root the phone and install a custom ROM for 4.1.1 on it. Then you can have Play Store and all the updated apps you want. Hopefully this helps.

Correct, except the Play Store is compatible with Android 2.2 Froyo or above

Regarding the missing Apps, that's also due to the OS not being supported.

Hi all here on this board, I don't know if this a right place to ask for help about the issue I have, however I can't access Google Play MARKET for several days by the moment. When clicking on its icon on my device it asks me to sign in to my Google account and I don't get why since I'm signed already. Could it be tied up with the trouble I experienced recently when trying to connect to gmail it showed up with "access to the server denied"? Besides, there a synchronization problem appeared and I don't know how to fix the problem. The model I own is Sony Xperia V

Welcome to Android Central! It's best to start a new thread if you have a question that is not directly related to the original topic of this thread. But in your situation, I'd consider removing your Google account completely from your phone, then adding it back. You can do this from the System Settings/Accounts menu.
