I installed CM7.0.3 stable release on a Transcend 8GB class 6 microsd card. I have CM7 with the market up and running well, but I cannot get CWM recovery to work. In ROM manager, it says I have ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8 installed, but it doesn't seem to work. If i try to boot into recovery through ROM manager or by holding the power button and selecting the recovery reboot option, it reboots normally. If I try to hold the power + n button, it goes into a linux screen that looks for the gapps installer, which it doesn't find, so then it shuts down. The same thing happens if I try to backup my current ROM in ROM manager. Here is a photo of the screen that comes up when I attempt to get into CWM:

I've tried reinstalling CM7 and everything, but the same problem occurs. Does anyone know what the issue is? I'm completely stumped. I'm not sure if it matters, but when I power on the NC, it says "Loading..." for a few seconds and then goes to another screen that says "Loading.." for a split second, then Android boots up. I never get the "Touch the future of reading" message screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have always used the bootable clockworkmod from sd to update my nook. If I remember right you have to flash cwr to emmc separately, directions are on this forum i think.

If I install a bootable CWM to sd, will it effect the CM7 install?

You will need to put the rom img on the sd card along with cwr. That will allow you to flash the img.

Ok, I think I understand the process, but please let me know if I'm missing a step, or completely off base:

1. write the installer file (generic-sdcard-v1.2.1.img) to the sdcard with WinImage
2. place the cm7 install file (update-cm-7.0.3-encore-signed.zip) and the CWM install file (8gb_clockwork-0.7.tar) onto the sdcard
3. power on NC and let it install everything
4. power on the NC, set up wifi
5. power off NC, press power + n to get into CWM recovery.
6. install gapps, OC kernel, whatever else

Is that correct? Thanks!

Can I burn a bootable CWM and CM7 on the same sdcard? or do they have to be on separate sdcards? For instance, I have an 8gb sdcard....can I write a bootable 2gb CWM Recovery partition, and then have the other 6gb partition for CM7?

I dont think you can use the generic-sdcard-v1.2.1.img and CWM on the same card.

I think i just dug myself into a deep hole. So I tried restoring the NC to stock with the instructions at Dummies Guide to Fixing 'My Nook Won't Boot' - xda-developers to restore the NC to stock 1.0.1 with a bootable CWM sdcard. Everything seemed to install fine, but when I took out the sdcard and rebooted, I got stuck at the "n" screen. I tried a hard reboot by holding down the power button, but it still got stuck at the "n."

Then I tried to recoveryfix.zip file at this thread [ZIP][RECOVERY] EMMC Recovery Repair - xda-developers. Again, everything seemed to install correctly, but I'm still getting stuck at the "n"

I am still able to boot into CWM on an sdcard, but not sure how I should proceed next or what I'm doing wrong. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If your putting CM7 on SD with the boot image from XDA that you mentioned above, you shouldnt need CWM. You really only need CWM if your gonna put it on internal emmc.
