Can't get into Smart Lock

Note 9, still on Oreo.
All of a sudden I cannot open Smart Lock.
It just hangs at the pin entered screen or goes black and never opens.
I've tried a reboot.
Oh! I have not tried clearing system cache!
I'll be right back....

Smart Lock would not open in SAFE MODE, (screen shot attached) but when I rebooted into regular mode, Smart Lock worked.

I've opened Smart Lock successfully several times after booting normally.
I wish I understood what caused the failure and how going into Safe Mode fixed it.

Ok, good to hear! It may be that some 3rd party app you installed was interfering for some reason, and booting into Safe Mode caused it to cease whatever it was doing. See if it returns at some point while in normal mode.

Good man!
With no new or rooted phones, it's been kinda boring, in a good way with the Note 9, but it makes me rusty as well.
IDK if I relayed that my wife got cancer and passed away last year, but I took off for Florida a few months ago.
It's been wild!
