All,

I'm trying to get the stock recovery back onto the phone so that I can take an OTA from 4.4.3 to 4.4.4.

At the moment the phone is running CWM / Philz recovery.
Device wise, the phone is running HBOOT 3.18, OS:2.22.401.5 and is an HTC__J15 CID
I've downloaded recovery 2.22.401.5.img from a fair few locations now but every time I send a recovery to the phone (renamed simply to recovery.img for ease of typing) via the fastboot / adb command folder with the phone sat in fastboot USB mode, booting into recovery results in a black screen with a large red phone and a red triangle / ! in the middle, nothing else. It appears totally hung and only comes back to life with a soft reset (vol up / power x 10 seconds). The recovery write appears successful and takes no more than a few ms to complete with write okay comfirmation.

As a result at the moment I've just flashed it back to CWM.
Anyone else have any ideas on how to send a (working) stock recovery over to it?

Thanks

I am curious if a flashable .zip of the stock recovery would work?

That is stock recovery you were seeing. vol down + power or vol. up + power will put you in the stock recovery menu

Hmmm... When stock, the phone used to boot straight to recovery when asked, no need for power +/- volume.

Oddly enough, when doing the above, the phone is still non-responsive and simply sits with the phone / red triangle / ! and simply won't do anything without a reset.
BUT
I left it with said recovery flashed, sent it an OTA update and the phone took it.

Now I'm off to reflash back to CWM.

I wonder when Android 5.0 / HTC Sense 6 might land. The various sources I've seen said 3rd Jan onwards, but the UAE carriers are not the fastest in the world at then sending the OTA update out.

I think they are still in a major bug squashing phase, and that is what is slowing everything down.

From an AOSP M8

Are you flashing the same version stock recovery that you were on before?

No, I downloaded a bog standard recovery from the XDA website.

Can you take the Android L (or any other) OTA update once you've gone S-Off? I'm considering sunshine...

Yeah some will take you right in to recovery and i seen others take you to the screen with the phone and you need to tap vol down + power then vol up
