Can't get to storage partition on SD CM7

I have a successful CM7 install on SD card and have one problem. I do not seem to be able to get to the partition set aside on the card for SD storage, either by plugging the SD card into a Windows 7 computer, or by plugging the nook into the computer.

I have a ton of PDF's I want to sideload onto the card. But I have not found a way to access it. I did a search and think I found someone else with a similar problem that suggested using the cloud (i.e. dropbox, evernote, etc) to do this but this would be a considerable time consumer and really suck up bandwidth limits on these tools.

I tried using MiniTool to assign a drive letter to the partition, to no avail.

Is there something I'm missing?

Are you making sure to connect through the nook and selecting mount as USB from the notification bar?

I had seen the icons on the notification bar, but being new to Android I was expecting the notification icons to respond when tapping on them like webOS notification icons do so when they did not I moved along. Now i see you have to hit the little circle/arrow icon to pop up the notification. Now it works. Thanks!
