Can't install Angry Birds Rio

Here's what worked for me (different from anything posted here so far but requires root).

After the apk downloaded and failed to install, I navigated to /sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.vevezia/cache (it took some searching to find this directory). The apk will be there under an odd name but will show the Angry Birds Rio icon. Copy that to the root of your phone (not anywhere on the SD card). This requires a file manager like Root Explorer, and of course root access on your phone.

Next you need to unmount your SD card and then go back to Root Explorer or whatever file manager you use and install the apk from the root of your phone.

This is basically the same solution most of us EVO owners have been using for a long time, with the added headache of having to first download the apk to the SD card and then move it to the phone's internal storage before unmounting.

It's frustrating to have to go through all these extra steps anytime I install a Rovio app or update, but they're worth it!

I found the answer!!!!!!

After moving all my apps back to the phone, I connected my EVO to my PC to open the SD card. I cut the android_secure folder and pasted it to my PC (in case I needed to put it back). Your phone will recreate this folder. Disconnected from the PC and re-downloaded Angry Birds Rio. It now successfully installed!!

This also resolved the issue I was having with numerous Market apps not installing unless I unmounted the SD card, which was a pain every time.

Apparently that android_secure folder can get corrupt and cause problems....

Hope this works for you!!!
I have been having a lot of problems with my sd as of late. I was going to delete that android secure folder, but first i used andexplorer and when to that and sec folder and soon as i accessed it (but did not delete) my sd card worked fine. Other problems i am trying to work out is Sometimes on reboot, any apps on the sd card dissapear from the apps drawer like they are not even there, and home screen widgets associated with them. When i accessed that android secure folder they magically re appeared ! Also it takes 3-4 tries at plugging in usb cable to pc for pc to recognize it. I also can not get it to connect with htc sync :(

Has anyone else notied that Angry birds Rio wont come out of memory? Even after I stop playing the game I still see it in my battery use at like 2% even after a reboot. Im sure there will be a fix. I have notice this in a few games.

I was finally able to delete the .android_secure folder and doing that worked and fixed the problem
Note - the delete only worked when the SD card was connected to a windows machine. It would not delete directly on the phone using Astro and would not deleted connected to a macbook.

THIS solution WORKED for me

As I was unable to move my apps to my phone because of lack of room ... This solution below WORKED WELL for me.

Hallelujah! Success at last! The solution for the update problem and at least some of the installation problems (like angry birds rio) is as follows:

First, hook your phone to a computer with a usb cable - need to have your phone in "disk drive" mode. Open the new drive that will appear on your computer (which, of course, is actually your phone's sd card).

Next, locate the file folders named ".android_secure" (it should be near the top of the listings).

Click on and open up this ". android_secure " folder and look for a file named "smdl2tmp1.asec"

Delete it! Destroy it! Kick it out of your life! It's what is causing the problems!

Unplug your phone. Phone will say something like "preparing sd card." It could take a bit but after that you can update all the apps including those on your sd card and angry birds and download Rio hassle free.

As there a a whole bunch of threads on this issue, please pass the fix on.

Sent from my Evo - so there!

Deleting android _secure solve my problem with this and all my other apps that i had trouble with. Thank you:D

Angry Birds Rio Mytouch Android

When I try to install Angry Birds Rio on my Mytouch it gives me a message 'Out of space Angry Birds Rio could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again'

I have 50mb of internal memory free and 2gb free on my mini sd. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same issue with quite a few apps not installing with the sd card mounted on my moto dx. The amazon appstore makes it a real pain in the rear by downloading directly to the sd card making a simple unmount impossible.
I too have to use an app like root explorer to copy the .apk's over to the phone, unmount the sd card, and then run the installers. Not sure how long I will deal with that, especially since it has to be done on program updates also:(
Very dumb on their part

I'm getting the "This application comes frm and unknown source, and for your security only applications from trusted sources can be installed". I guess this is because I'm using AT&T Atrix and I'm not getting the app from the market?

You need to go into settings then applications and check the "unknown sources" box.

Thanks midmofan, that did the trick! Not sure how I missed that post skimming through the thread but thanks very much. Hope it is a lasting fix

No problem. Since threads on identical issues don't seem to get merged here its easy to miss things.

Holy Cow!! Thanks!! Ever since the app came out, I could not install it on my Droid Incredible. I just bought a Macbook Pro this week and I could not figure things out. I am learning a new OS and now this...i was frustrated....Thanks a millions!!

YES, I have the same problem here, I have the Evo, but it won't install Rio, it does some download, but nothing is there. No update, no evidence of Rio anywhere ? ? I unchecked that "install from untrusted sources" thing and still did not work.
