Long story but starts with a tub of water and ends with a broken Fascinate. I need to take this back to Best Buy for repairs (again) and need to get back to stock. The display is badly discolored and washed out but I can see fine. I'll list my probs and attempts to resolve.

1. Device not being recognized by Odin. Phone is in download mode, no battery and Odin does not see phone. I've downloaded the drivers multiple times. Tried different wires and different PCs.

2. Phone resets each time it reboots. I have to setup Google account after each reboot. Once I sign in I can connect to the Market but cannot download anything. I get a message stating, "there's not enough space to install." I've tried wiping cache/ factory reset/ wipe Dalvik (I don't receive a confirmation) and I've disable voodoo lagfix.

3. I cannot run update.zip even though I can get into recovery mode. I get error because the SD card is not identified. I tried to mount SD card but no luck.

So I can't Odin, can't unVoodoo my device, can't flash any other ROMs. Please help so I can begin my 4 week wait for a new/refurbished/repaired phone from Best Buy.

Any help you can give is appreciated. Thank you

Yeah, I uninstalled and reinstalled Samsung Mobile USB Driver V1.3.550.0 SCH-i500 Fascinate. Tried it on the laptop & my desktop. Using the OEM cable that came with the phone and the others I've used before. No dice.

UPDATE:

Magically I was able to get recognition by my PC and was able to get it recognized in Odin. Good news, YAY!!!! :D

BUT then the update froze. Nothing for half hour in d/l mode. I picked up my phone to see if something was wrong and the USB wire came out. Say hello to my little friend. Brick Fassy. :'(

Anyone ever have an upside down downloading screen? My screen is very faint now with an upsidedown android in downloading mode. Maybe I'm in the wrong hemisphere.:p

Welcome to H2o hell. Or Australia, take your pick.

Considering even the manufactures won't be able to understand anything, send it in for repair.

Usually, they could care less if you rooted or not.

Kudos for your sense of humor through all this!!!! :)

Oh... one more thing, bury it in rice for a few days..... Rice absorbs moisture like crazy.

Thanks for the suggestion, someone else just mentioned the rice burial to me. I'll give an update if it works out.

Now you tell me. I was just about to have a nice meal of Fascinate Pilaf. :p Is there a suggested time frame for the dry rice soak?

I'm not sure if you're asking for help or offering me dinner :p

FYI, if you're planning on getting this fixed under warranty, its not going to happen, because there's a water indicator on the phone. If you're paying for it, they don't care if it's rooted or not, as long as it's hardware (they'll probably flash it back themselves).

Cool thanks for the info. It's through Best Buy's "Black Tie" coverage. Wasn't sure if the device being rooted would void the coverage.

Well the phone is in the hands of Best Buy now. They're going to replace it with a white Fascinate. No diff to me since I use a black rubber cover anyway. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I now know if I have another Jacques Costeau moment with my phone, battery pull and rice bath.
