So I have an S8 Plus, wife has Note 8. We also have the same problem with a friends Note 8. Some videos that are sent to the Note 8s cannot be played. They all play on the S8 Plus.
So if an Iphone send the video to the S8 and Note 8, only the S8 can play it.
Also had a Note 8 send a video which was created on the Note 8 to another Note 8 and it would not play. If the S8+ forwards it to the Note 8, it works. But we also have had a case where the S8+ forwards the video to the Note 8 and it still does not work (this was where the original video was created on a Note 8)
But its sporadic. Sometimes it works and sometimes not on the Note 8.
When I say send video, that means the video was originally created on the phone that sends it.
Again, have had no issues playing videos on S8+.
For troubleshooting, I went into the Note 8, cleared data and cache from Message + (Verizon Messages), no difference. I then uninstalled the update back to stock and reinstalled, no difference, still could not play the video sent. Once I forwarded the video from the S8+ to the Note 8, it would play.
