I have been using Nova Launcher for forever and thought I'd give One UI a chance because it seems to now have all the little features that I liked in Nova.

However, when trying to setup he screen I can't delete app icons. I just get this option pictured and not the option to delete. I'm thinking I have something set that locks out the option but no clue what/where it is. I installed Nova Launcher day one on this phone per usual and have no real experience with One UI. Long press on the home screen and see if you have the layout and locked status. If so on ticket and see if you can then remove an app on the home screen

Thanks, but checked that and it's turned off, toggled on and off still the same. I move the icons around and ad/delete full pages but can't remove apps.

Under advanced when you open up Nova settings at the bottom select restart launcher

I think the OP switched from using Nova to the Samsung One UI Home and that is where the problem is. Can't delete apps from home screen in UI Home.

I have a basic One UI Home setup that I occasionally try, but always go back to Nova myself.

Even so, I can delete app icons.

Go to "Settings" > "Home Screen" > third section of options in the middle "Lock Home screen layout" > make sure it's "off"

Then the "Remove" option should show.

If not, then I'm stumped.

How did you switch back? It sounds like your method may be flawed and left some items enabled from Nova. Some of these settings can remain even when the app is uninstalled. I know this because on one of our S9 devices we had to reinstall Nova to turn off a setting in order to have the whites be white on the device, and then it stayed even when we uninstalled the app to go back to stock.

These are the recommended steps to return to stock from Nova.

Let us know if it works for you. Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks, but I did it exactly the way he did in the video; I didn't just delete the app.

The S9 and S24 are six iterations of Android apart so that's probably not a good comparison as far as expected behavior.

Rereading your post so this happens on the stock launcher then you would need to clear data then force stop it under Apps in settings but back up your home layout if you customize it this will delete it .

Thanks, tried that but no change. It's weird because I never used the stock launcher for even a day so not sure how anything got broken.
