Can't send attachments with GMAIL

For the past couple of days I have not successfully been able to send an email with an attachment using Gmail. The email just goes to my outbox labelled "pending".

I can send the exact same email and the exact same attachments using my Comcast account.

Any ideas?

I've cleaned up my phone and scanned for viruses.

well as a last resort I uninstalled Gmail and reinstalled it and the emails seem to be sending fine now.
