Can't send pics or snaps on mobile data, only wi-fi

This sucks because I have to be at home to send them. I've tried fiddling around with settings like data roaming but it never works to send a pic or send a snap using mobile data. I'm on O2 in Ireland.

How do I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about sending pics using the messaging app? If so, that's odd, since MMS messages (multimedia) typically require mobile data for transmission, and can't send over wi-fi alone. Could it be that the pictures are too large to send? Can you send smaller files?

I'm talking about Viber, Whatsapp, Facebook, Skype, anything like that. I also can't send snaps on Snapchat. Basically, I can't send pics, period.

Just a guess. Check if restrict background data is on. If so the phone won't let an app use mobile data unless you're interacting with it.
Settings, data usage, three dots to open the overflow menu

Have you spoken to O2 about this? Maybe see if they can give you a replacement SIM card.

Bump. :)

I don't think that android has any other settings to limit that action. So it could be a problem with the phone or with your SIM.

SIM problem. Sim cards do funny things sometimes especially if they were manually cut to fit in a new phone. Maybe there are some hidden carrier settings that cause this problem or some limits on your contract. The only way to know that is contacting your carrier.

Phone problem. Try the usual. Soft reboot, wipe cache, factory reset as the last option.

You have to understand that yours is an strange problem and trying to help you is only based on hunches and general guesses . :)

Good luck
