Can't set Google calendar as my default

I've used only Google Calendar for at least my last three Samsung phones. This one won't let me set it as the default, nor will it let me disable Samsung's calendar. This can't be that hard. Go to Apps/Calendar (clicking on the Google icon, not the Samsung) /Permissions/allowing the calendar, contacts and location options, then, underneath the Permissions portion, click on Set as default. THEN, under the Samsung calendar, Block notifications, Set as Default, make sure no defaults are set.

Should be routine.

Is there some master setting I've missed? Right now, Google calendar shows both calendars and defaults to creating all new events in Samsung, even though NO DEFAULTS ARE SET IN EITHER CALENDAR. (It won't let me set either one as default.)

Thanks for any help.

It wont let you disable , you would need Package disabler Pro (paid) https://www.packagedisabler.com/

Or (free)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rrivenllc.shieldx

But if you long press the google calender app >tap info>set default >you can see those links belowScreenshot_20210524-170044_Settings.jpg

I was all set to go with Package disabler Pro (paid) but they wanted me to pay by charging directly through them. I don't send my credit card info over the airways. (Everyone has their thing, and that's mine.) So i tried tinkering again, following your directions. I went into the Samsung calendar's permissions and removed all of its permissions. Should have done that long ago, but got bogged down in trying to completely disable--dumb me. So now, at least it asks *which* calendar I want to use (rather than automatically defaulting to Samsung and not giving me a Google calendar option).

This is an improvement. When I start getting annoyed at the nagging Choose Calendar question, I'll do something more dramatic then.

Thanks for your help!
