Can't text or make call

I'm having a major problem with this phone. There are times when I try to type a text message or email and nothing happens. The keyboard opens but it won't allow me to input anything. When this happens I can't even make calls. It stays this ways for 5-10 min and it does this at least once a day.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME???
