God only knows when moto will release official Ics, so I want to install the 232 Ics leak ivbeen hearing about. I'm new to rooting and all things moding so I was wondering anyone can point in the right direction on getting started. I am not rooted and I ont know if that matters or not I don't even really understand what it does. All I know ii want some Ics in my life right now and want to be able to get the official update when it eventually comes out.

Search the forum for the ics leak. There are several good ones but read the directions carefully. I upgraded mine to ICS .232 and it's worth the hassle. Phone is faster and is like a whole new phone.

I did every ICS leak prior to the Galaxy 3's release. The Bionic on ICS was fine but like you I couldn't wait.
I have been a Moto/Android fan and supporter (DroidX, X2 and Bionic) but became dismayed over the lack of info and constant delays.
The Samsung GS3 is, simply put, amazing.
I like the direction that Moto is going under Googel leadership and hope they right the ship. If and when that happens I may come back.

I wouldn't call it a hassle at all. Takes some time for things to process the update, but it's super easy. There is a manual way, and a batch of utilities out there called House of Bionic that automates some things for you. After comparing the two, I did it manually. I think it was easier because you just move the leak onto the external sd card, clear the system cache (or full reset if you want), and install. The HoS way requires you to install extra programs on your computer to initiate things from there instead of the phone, and probably would take longer.

I came from the SS Fascinate and the main reason I didn't adopt the Galaxy 3 is updates were painfully slow. I watched all the Moto phones update to Froyo, then Gingerbread and each time I had to wait for forever. The phone ran better in every which way with each upgrade. I decided to jump ship to Moto and once again I picked a phone that last in line for updates. It just goes to show you that no matter which manufacturer you go with you don't know what to expect. It's a shame that Moto or whoever can't get this right what's the purpose of buying a new phone with dual core when you sit on an outdated OS that your phone won't take advantage of? By the time ICS rolls out, assuming you got the Bionic day one, you lost half of your contract on outdates OS. That's just no fun. One would think they are close to getting ICS right but it wouldn't surprise me to see October come and go.

That's what I used and it worked great and easy to perform. If you're already running .905 all you have to do are steps 12 thru 16 too.

Im on. 905 and not rooted, do I need to be rooted in order to do this?

I jumped from the .232 leak to the .246 leak with the HOB installer.

It was a piece of cake, and it has no bugs that I have noticed. I was having screen issues, when typing emails with .232. The text bounced around the email in GMail, and would send the message before I was finished.

Very, Very happy with the .246 leak.

Thanks HOB!!!!

Although the leak (running 232) makes my phone operate much better, zero data drops now, my Xoom and Nexus 7 make me wish I could skip ICS for Jellybean.

Wow, with the OTA looking close, wondering why you'd move up to a leak you can't get back from. I would have gone back to 905 before I did that. Just sayin'...

From what I've been reading, we will be able to move to the OTA version, even those that are already past the 232 version. There isn't a reason to go back to 905.

I downloaded 232 and everything went fine. However at times opening and closing apps is slow, or it just sits there with a black screen. Other apps are smooth. i am using my wife's razr's as a gauge which seems very fast but mine varies between fast and then seems to slow down more than it should. Any ideas?
