Can't write posts on friends timelines.

I've been having an ongoing issue with the Facebook app on my Nexus 5X where I can't write on anyones timelines.
If I load the app, There is a section at the top for me to 'Share an update' but if I look up a friend it appears to default to 'Search in friends posts'

Usually (If I remember correctly you scroll past their pictures and friends list and at the top of their wall should be a section for you to write a post to that friend however I'm just greeted with a white bar that shows 'Posts' which means I'm unable to write on their wall.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling all Facebook related stuff. Tried deleting then wiping the cache of the phone then reinstalling but the same issue remains. All apps are updated as and when they come out.

Am I missing something here or is it just totally broken? I can do everything as normal by logging in via Chrome on my phone or PC but just not on my 5X. I'm away to go and try my NVidia tablet.
I'm also tempted to try and install Facebook lite from an API to see if that resolves it.

OK update, Facebook lite works as it should. The Facebook app doesn't appear to work on either my N5X of my nVidia Shield tablet.

Am I trying to use the app an old/wrong way? Seems odd how Facebook lite works as I assumed it would.

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same exact problem on my GS8.

No. Unfortunately not. The only way I can get round it is to log in via chrome or use Facebook lite that I side loaded. I've been through settings on the app and the desktop version to see if I can restore everything to its original state but couldn't find anything.
I guess we can only report issues via the app and Google play store and hope it gets resolved.

Ugh that sucks. I've also logged into a different account on my phone in the same app and it worked fine. Settings exactly the same. I don't get it. I did load like version 50 of Facebook, and it worked fine, I then updated it thru the play store and it kept working but other little glitches were present. As soon as I closed the app and reopened it, back to not being able to post on walls. I don't get it. Can we fix permissions any way?

Running version 90 with no issues for now, turned auto update off. Works fine. Hopefully they'll get it fixed sometime soon.

So using a different login on the same phone and same app worked? If that's the case, what happens if you log onto another phone and app? Both gave me the same results on my Nexus 5x and a Nvidia shield tablet but that was using my only account.

I may have to downgrade mine then too.
Where do you find the older versions?

Yeah using a different account on the same phone worked. If you downgrade to an older version, then updated, it's ok until you kill the app. Once you kill and reopen it, it's back to being broken.
