Can't write to SD card

Hi all,

For some reason, i keep getting a Can't write to SD card error. It has happened on 2 phones with 2 different sd cards. The second card was recognized fine until a couple days ago.

You tried taking it out and installing again ?

I have taken it out and back in again. I also formatted the card in android, with no luck

Welcome to Android Central! Did you get both cards from the same or similar sellers? If so, were they random online sellers, or reliable brick-and-mortar stores? If the former, then it's possible they're both counterfeit.

They're legit.

Can you elaborate on why you're certain they're legit? Counterfeit cards are unfortunately fairly common. You could try using SD Insight to test their validity, but I'm not sure if that app works on more recent versions of Android.

Can the cards be used in a PC, or do you encounter problems there as well?

I agree. I have not had a SD card go bad since my Note 4, but it does happen. Can you write to the card in a PC?

I had the problem of getting that message when moving apps to the sd card. I called T-Mobile and the guy told me to reset the phone. I got scared and thought he meant erase and start over. No, you just reset to factory SETTINGS, not lose your data and programs already installed. After I did that everything was fine.
