Capasitive buttons dont light up anymore

I dont know what the problem is. Everything on the phone is running smoothly except that the capasitive buttons wont light up. They work, but it is hard to see in the dark and this just happened out of the blue. Not rooted, completely stock and i have less than 30 apps on my phone. What could be the problem?

Could be a software related bug or hardware.. I'm going to lean more towards hardware..

Agree with Paul, might be a hardware issue. Backup all that you can and try a factory reset. If still an issue its the hardware.
