Can someone explain to me how to use the Caption feature? It's in ASSIBILITY menu. Thanks.

I would think in applications like movies ,you tube ect...

Thanks again. What I'm trying to find out is how to use the Captions. Can you or someone else show me an example of it In use? I still don't have a grasp of the features in use.

Apparently this option has been around since KitKat 4.4. Heres a video on Youtube explaining what it does and how it works.

You really need to try to be more resourceful. Sorry if Im being blunt here.

It's kind of sad in a way...... the days of many complicated devices coming with instruction manuals (like smartphones) are gone. Everybody's supposed to pay a fortune for a modern smartphone and then completely figure it out on there own, however that may be.... whether it's forums, friends, or the frustration of experimenting with your own phone as you learn by screwing things up. I personally haven't had many issues because I started out early on learning windows when Microsoft offered no support at all for their products unless you gave them a credit card number first... although I still think it was a huge a**hole move on their part. But learning the crap that is windows the hard way inside and out gave me a leg up in learning other systems where the manufacturer doesn't feel the need to help new owners understand the device they just bought at all.

I'm understanding the resurgence of simpler phones like flip phones.... my mom and dad recently wanted to try out smartphones, and as much as I tried to help them they're both back to using flip phones, and will never use another smartphone. That's just a close example of the older generation around me..... I'm also the tech guy for my wife's windows phone which I hate, and my kids Android phones when they screw them up.

Google and/or the phone manufacturers could make my life and a lot of others much easier if they actually sent some kind of instruction manual out with their phones....... I've never thought it was cool to sell a product without instructions and tell the buyer in so many words "figure it out for yourself". It wasn't cool when Microsoft did it and it isn't cool now :-[

In a hardware sense of instructions, its just a phone, like every phone before it. You dial a number and talk to someone. You text message someone(keyboard, no T9) and you talk to someone. As a communication device, its simple. You have a power button and volume buttons. That and the other hard stuff is basically all you can make a manual about.

It would be nearly impossible to create a manual for the operating system because its going to be obsolete within months. Its not like an owners manual for a car where nothing changes throughout your ownership.

I think its come down to the fact that this is why forums and youtube videos and such were created. I dont think any software comes with instructions anymore(for anything). Its all, figure it out, or discover the new options since the last version you used.

Amen. Agree. I use this forum after I try to figure out what I want to do. Most responses are helpful but sometimes the responses contain remarks that are not helpful and rude. In spite of the fact that the answer to the question still has not been answered. Thanks for reading this.

I think some people get frustrated when questions are asked that they feel are easily searchable on Google or have already been covered several times in the forum threads which are also searchable as opposed to creating a thread for each question. Overall I think most people are helpful here.

I was looking for a demonstration of how the feature has been used. The video only shows what the instructions are. There is no example of how to use it.

Its closed captioning for the hearing impaired. Theres nothing amazing or extra about it. If you cant hear whats coming out of the speakers for a video or something, it will display the words below on the screen. Do you have a problem hearing your speakers or understanding the words coming out of peoples mouths on videos? If no, let it go.

Excellent. That explains it and how it can be used. Appreciate the help. Thanks
