Captivate RAM gets low

I did a search and could not find another thread similar to this one. I have Advanced Task Killer, and use it after I have opened quite a few apps. I have a few apps that I use the most on a list of apps not to be killed, such as messaging, gmail, etc. All my other apps, Last.fm, facebook, FML, etc I kill when I'm done with. So how come I can have absolutely no apps open, but only have between 70-90 mb/ram free? When I turn the phone on, it has like 180 free, and gradually goes down. Anyone else here?

*EDIT*
I forgot to mention that I have the eBay app, wertago, and a few others. When I kill all apps, under manage apps -> running apps, it shows ebay, wertago, market, and many others still open. Why are they not closing?

The general consensus on this site is that task killers do more bad than good. That may be what's making the home screens choppy. Stop using it for awhile and see if it still happens. As for the apps, some of them will automatically restart when they're killed (even if they don't open).

I would say that the optimal amount of RAM is any non-zero amount. There's no point in "saving" it.

Unless you specifically know there's an issue, it seems more likely that you're either seeing one where non exists, or actually causing one, by messing with the system :)

Ok thanks. I guess I just got so used to it always being so high that I thought there could be a problem. Thanks. On a completely different note, how come when I reply to this thread using tapatalk, as soon as I hit submit, it posts then force closes?

That's probably a tap talk issue. Is that app good by the way? I was thinking about buying it.

Clear the cache for the Tapatalk app from MENU-SETTINGS-APPLICATIONS-MANAGE APPS and see if that helps.

Stop using task killers, reduce stress and live longer. You do not need to manage or watch Android... it does just fine on its own. Windows Mobile 6.5 it is not.

I like tapatalk its pretty cool. I will stop using the task killer so much.
