This is probably something simple, but I am stumped. My wife and I both have Captivates. When I got home today she was trying to solve a problem with hers - the speaker was producing no sounds other than the ringtone

When I called her number the phone would ring normally, but when she answered she could not hear me in the phone's speaker (I could hear her fine). If we switched it to speaker phone that worked. But other than the ringtone, the phone would make no sounds at all. Tried music, videos, etc. Finally I just shut the phone down and rebooted. Everything was fine after that. Of course I checked all the volume settings. It was just strange. Anyone have any idea what might cause such a condition?

That happened yesterday with my wife's phone. I am not exactly sure what caused it because she couldn't even get her phone to ring. I rebooted and all is well, but certainly was strange.

Sorry to ask the obvious, but did either of you try the volume rocker?

Haha come on man...

With my wifes phone she wouldn't even receive my call and I was right next to her. Just seemed to be one of those weird occurrences that you can not really explain.

My wife is one of those who never turns the phone off. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I have never had the issue with my phone.

i had a similar issue with an iPhone in the past when i used the headphone jack. When i unplugged the headphones it did not switch back to using the internal speaker. If the reboot does not work i would recommend plugging in a set of headphone and unplugging a couple of times to see if that helps.
