Car Audio problem

This is a big problem for me and hoping there might be a work around. I'm coming from a Blackberry Curve and want to stay with this T-Bolt in the worst way, but this might be a killer if i cant find a solution.

I have a 5 speed and therefore must have a hands free solution in the car. I won't wear a headset, that is out of the question, (need to be able to listen to my Sirius). Up till now, I just plugged a 3.5 mm stereo jack into the BB then into the car's AUX input to the stereo. Audio came thru stereo system loud and clear, and when I spoke it was picked up by the phone's mic in the normal fashion. A seamless solution.

BUT, with the T-Bolt, when the phone is connected in the same way, either the phone passes the callers audio to the stereo system without picking up my voice thru the mic, or when I activate the speakerphone, it kicks the audio out the phones speaker instead of the headphone jack, but DOES pick up my voice via the mic.

This is killing me. Can anyone think of a possible solution. Sorry, 2006 Honda Civic, no native blue tooth in the car, road noise makes it too difficult to go with standard bluetooth speakerphones, already tried that (Blue Ant).

Or you could just not talk on the phone while driving.

this is a known problem on most android devices. when the aux cable is plugged in and a call comes in it assumes ur using a head set with a mic built in. so the mics on the phone do not turn on. :/ we are all hoping htc will fix it.

HTC actually confirms this is an issue and coming from the DroidX and having had every other Android Verizon has this is a major down fall. Every other phone this was not an issue. HTC has the issue escalated to upper management to get resolved and hope to have an update out soon

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a bluetooth / FM transmitter product, but I've never had good experience audio wise with any of these products. If you drive more than a few miles on a daily basis, it always seems you run into an area where another radio station's interference forces you to pick a new frequency. I am going to try the $4 patch cord as a temp solution. I'll let you know if its a real workable fix.

I'm having the same problem. Weird thing is I am coming from an HTC Incredible, and my aux cord worked fine through my stereo. Weirder still, I got the phone on Friday last week, it worked through the stereo all weekend, then yesterday morning stopped working. Just ordered the cord linked above until there is a fix

do u have any links to show were HTC confirms this? im glad to know this is an actual issue and not a ploy to sell blue tooth headsets ha

What annoys me, and this is basically the same thing. Is when I am playing my pandora from my phone through my car stereo, same way 3.5mm head set, it will stop and ring through when a call or text or any notification comes. I even put my ringer on silent before i plug in the stereo but that doesn't help at all.

Lots of anger here. Since when is setting up hands-free calling in your car illegal? Isn't that the responsible thing?

Not really - it's not holding the phone that is distracting, otherwise everyone who drives a manual transmission car like myself needs to find some other way to shift.

Being engaged in the conversation is the problem. You're not focusing on dynamic situation of driving. Nothing is constant while driving, and you need to focus on what's going on around you at all times; this simply cannot happen while talking on the phone.

It's not difficult to see that the problem is not holding the phone or hand free, the problem is not paying attention to what's going on around you. Just trying to make a point that this entire country (nearly) seems to ignore. If the call is that important, pull over some where, stop endangering the life of everyone around you on the road.

Lol. So you're telling me that my brain reacts differently to talking on the phone than it would if I was talking to a person sitting beside me?

Or are you telling me that, should I have a passenger sitting beside me, that I should ask them not to talk to me while I drive, as to not be distracted by their conversation?

No doubt that it reacts the same to a conversation being held within the car; the distraction might even be worse because people often look at who they're speaking to.

I'm not telling you to do anything - if you want to be "responsible" then yes, get in your car, shut up and go where you need to go. There are loads of senseless injuries and deaths every year from people being distracted by simple things that can wait until after they get out of the car.

It was just a point - stop over analyzing it.

The point is you took your point a little too far. Sure, people shouldn't do distracting things when they drive. They shouldn't text, dial the phone, change CDs, shave, or eat McDonalds. Especially if they suck at driving. But, trying to do the right thing and make your phone work hands free, vs just holding the phone to your face, shouldn't result in a lecture.

There have been many times in my life where talking on the phone kept me from being dangerous. I used to work construction in Alaska, and I'd have to drive hundreds of miles with nary a passer-byer. Talking on the phone would pass the time and keep my eyes from glazing over after a few hours.

Anyway, as you were.

I don't think anyone is over analizing anything. But when you talk about people being "responsible" or make it seem like it's sooooo wrong to talk while driving, some people can get offended. I talk, text and do everything on my phone.......WHILE DRIVING. Never came close to an accident. But I also know that not everyone can do that. Is it recomended to do that, of course not. Is it a law in some states, yes it is. But I know I can, and my experience has proven that. You have some people who can't walk and chew gum at the same time. THOSE are the people that shouldn't be text, talking ect. while driving. There are also people who get into accidents WITHOUT using their phone......for whatever reason.

Anywho, getting back to the original post. I came across the same thing with my phone. I found that if you go to settings>call>tty mode, you should be able to change that (i forget which one) and have the mic work on your phone, and the sound coming thru the speakers. Try that and see what happens
