Car Dock Applications

Just wanted to share some thoughts on different car dock apps I have used and see what some of you thought about some of the issues I've had.

1. Stock Droid X car dock
Pros:
-big buttons for changing songs
-seems to be fairly stable most of the time
Cons:
-can't manage playlists without going into the native android music app (or another music app, besides the card dock one)
-wish I could customize more of the icons (like having navigation instead of "my location")

2. Google Car Home: tried this for a couple of days after downloading from one of the blog posts. Found it to be very buggy and caused a number of battery pulls, so I uninstalled. Hopefully when the official release happens, it will be more stable.
Pros: more customizable home screen, with the ability to scroll through different screens
Cons: buttons in the music player are too small

Anyone have any experience with any other car docks apps? What I mainly want it is a good music player that's easy to control without taking my eyes off the road for too long. Thanks.

I agree wih basically all of what you posted. I also uninstalled google car home for the bugginess.

Im using Custom Car Home. Only problem im having is that my DX doesn't remember I set it as the default car dock app. Still I use it.

I'm using Custom Car Home on my DX. It's great. I've got 3 screens set up with various apps and shortcuts I use when I'm behind the wheel. Compared to CCH, the stock car dock app is crap. I liked it so much that I went back to the Market and did a $1 donate download just to show the programmer that I appreciate his work.

Another great thing about custom car home is that it will auto enable gps and bluetooth when you put it on the dock. This is great for me b/c I only use bluetooth when my X is docked so I dont have to turn it on myself all the time. Way more features than googles dock and looks better.

I'm also trying Car Home (beta). A few very minor bugs, but so far I am liking it. Really like the idea of the speed, compass, and weather on the display also.

yeah other than the stock car dock, the "car home (beta)" listed above, i think is the best one

i was pleased with stock except that I didn't get any additional pages for apps. going to check out custom car home.
