Car holder: vent mount vs dash mount vs cup mount

In my truck, I had a great Mountek holder. It went into the CD slot.

Then I wrecked my truck ('03 S10). I replaced it with a minivan ('09 Toyota Sienna). It has a touchscreen and the CD slot is hidden behind it. And I think the Mountek was broken in the accident anyway. It was that kind of accident, yes.

I tried a cheap-ish vent mount for my Note 4 and it was useless. The vents moved and the holder didn't, well, hold. At all. And I'm rather fond of the cool air that comes out of the vent although I guess it still comes around the phone?

Now I have the Note 8 and really need some way to mount it in the van. It has a plethora of cup holders and I've looked into a few of those, too.

Mostly I want it to stay in one place and be where I can hear it.

What kind of vehicle mount do you use with your Note 8?
Any suggestions on what to use in a curvy dash, far-far-away windshield minivan?

I use the combination magnet (dash mount) and metal plate attached to the case. It's the best $10 I've ever spent. I'll link below.

Trust me. The phone won't move or jiggle. I was worried it would but was pleasantly surprised

Sounds good!
I also have one for my car.
But it is a cigarette lighter holder, can hold my phone and charge it, so I like it.

I was always interested in trying out those magnetic holders but for some reason was always worried they would mess up my phone. The vent ones don't work so well I quit using that pretty quickly. Right now I use a suction mount. The suction mount on my vehicle only attached securely to the windshield and sometimes to my radio touch screen. I can't for the life of me get it to attach to my Dash. I have a 2017 charger. I like it to be where it's within easy reach for quick operation and within Easy View.

I was looking at the RAM cup mount. And I like the iOttie line. I will probably go with one of them.

I am using the Spigen magnetic vent mount, works really well. With my s8 I used the Mophie magnetic vent mount which is also a wireless charger, they haven't come out with the Note 8 version yet

I'm using an iOttie. I used Sugru to add some pieces so that the Note 8 couldn't slip past the end of the arms/restraints.

I use the windshield mount.
The vent ones looked like the would block the vent or it would move due to the wait of the phones. The cup holder ones would get in my way, the ones that go in the lighter looked unstable to me.

I'm driving a GMC Yukon and use the ProClip system. It attaches to the area next to cupholder without any glue, tape, suction, or anything else. It is made for every make/model and it is the most secure holder that I have ever seen. For me, it is worth every penny as I have been using it on my last three vehicles. I just buy a new mount when I get a new vehicle, but the holder has worked for my last 3 phones.
