Car Mode Question

Is there a simple way to open the Car Mode when plugging in a car charger. If I use my IGrip car dock the Thunderbolt automatically goes into Car Mode. If I am just using a charger, it doesn't. How does the phone know? I want to use a different holder and leave my case on the phone in the car. Other than doing a search for Car Mode, I do not see a widget.

There is not a specific widget that you can directly get to. The car docks have a small magnet that tells the phone to go into dock mode. The only other way to get to it is to use the search button and look for dock mode.

I found a cool program called "Car Home"....it is Free.....it is also a APP launcher. It is a pretty stinking cool program!

Yeah, Car Home Ultra is an awesome app. Been using it for months. It allows your dialer to be in landscape mode, big shortcut icons that you can set for certain contacts or apps, plus you can set it to turn on/off automatically when bluetooth is turned on/off. I highly recommend it. It's free for 30 days but the cost is really cheap to have it after that. Totally worth it IMO.

Plus the developer is working on a speed limit alarm that you can optionally set to go off when you hit a certain speed which is nice for when you accidentally hit 90mph listening to a good song. Ha.

I just downloaded this app and it looks nice, but I have a question for you. How do you get it to go direct to the dialer and how do you set the dialer for landscape? I don't see a way to do this, but maybe I'm just dense? I see I can access the Android Car Mode and get to a landscape dialer that way, but it's several steps. Can I go direct to a landscape dialer from the Car Home screen?

Edit: I can get to the dialer, but it is in portrait mode only.
